THE Hunter Prostate Cancer Alliance has a busy calendar of events in store this month to promote Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.

Today: The Newcastle Herald turns blue. The Herald is donating 10¢ from every paper sold to the Hunter Prostate Cancer Alliance.

Wallsend Bowls Club, Blue Gum Hills Men’s Shed and Hunter Prostate Cancer Alliance trivia night, 6.30pm, Blue Gum Hills Men’s Shed. For $10 per person or $100 for a table of 10 you can enjoy the fun of trivia hosted by Alan Ross.

Alliance outreach, Newcastle Permanent Building Society head office, corner King and Union streets, Newcastle, 9am to noon; Newcastle Perm Hunter Street branch, 1pm to 4pm.

Sunday, September 22: 500 Years of Rock. Three bands with 500 years of experience perform fund-raising concert, 4pm to 8pm, Wallsend Bowls Club.

Friday, September 27: Alliance outreach, Newcastle Perm Tamworth branch, 1pm to 4pm.

Saturday, September 28: Alliance outreach, Newcastle Perm Armidale branch, 9am to noon.

Sunday, September 29: Taste New England. Hunter Prostate Cancer Alliance outreach to New England region, The Yard Hereford Steakhouse, 72 New England Highway, Glen Innes.

Monday, September 30: Free community barbecue, noon to 2pm, Civic Park, Newcastle. Hunter Prostate Cancer Alliance thank-you to the community and Newcastle Permanent Building Society. The Perm has donated $25,000 to a barbecue trailer.
